The overarching aim of the article is to show how the process of digitising transport documents affects a company’s bottom line in transport companies. The transport industry is one of that most prone to payment bottlenecks, so potentially every improvement results in an increase in the value of the money flowing through, as well as a direct impact on increasing, among other things, the company’s investment opportunities. The authors presented key concepts related to the digitisation of transport documents and a literature review in this area. The research part deals with a case study of a transport company that has implemented the process of handling electronic versions of transport documents as a leading one. Based on the observations of the company under study, the key barriers faced by entrepreneurs and the opportunities to develop and use digitalisation to further improve processes are also shown.
