ABSTRACT
This paper aims to indicate how important the issue of occupational
burnout is from the point of view of human resource management in the police.
This paper defines the research problem as follows: What is the main factor that
reduces the effectiveness of policemen’s service and what is the reason for it?
Therefore, a very simplified working hypothesis can be formulated: burnout in
the service of a policeman is one of the main factors affecting efficiency, and the
most important cause is stress.
Bearing in mind the above research intentions, it was assumed that their
implementation would be possible with the use of theoretical methods
(statistical data analysis, synthesis, abstraction, comparison, induction,
deduction, reduction and inference). Due to the limited time and scope of the
study, empirical methods were not applied directly. A substitute for them is the
use of some of the survey research carried out in the past (diagnostic survey).
It is also necessary to indicate the necessity to introduce research limitations.
It was resigned from describing the Police as a formation, its structure, tasks,
etc., assuming that it would be an unjustified “stretching” of this synthetic study.
