ABSTRACT
The problem of drug abuse is of interest to many sciences, departments
and public institutions. Despite the passage of time addiction is one of the
most important and still unresolved social problems. The study we embarked
on is of the descriptive and explanatory character. Describing those addicted
to psychoactive agents we decided to search for answers to the questions:
what led young people to drug initiation, what is the context of being a drug
addict, and what are the relationships between the variables describing
the dependence of those surveyed. Furthermore, taking the analysis and
description of the results we want to determine the extent of drug-specific
behaviors being linked to the socio-demographic characteristics such as
gender, age or education. The group studied were 100 HIV-infected patients
treated at the Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital in Warsaw. The research
was conducted from June to October 2008.
