Domestic violence is a phenomenon quite well known all over the world, not only in Poland. Many social groups meet with the problem of violence and become victims of it. The purpose of the work is to explain the problems of the occurrence of domestic violence, its main causes, consequences and possibilities of assistance to the victims. The theoretical aim of the work is to show the scale of people affected by violence, how important it is to help and not to harm another person. First of all, institutions in which every victim has a chance to ensure the safety of herself and her family members are presented. The subject of the research are the psychological aspects of violence and presentation of the offender and victim.
