ABSTRACT
The article deals with the problem of trafficking in human beings in democratic countries, explains the concept and gives a historical overview of the phenomenon, as this problem has been known to mankind since ancient times. The following sections of the paper present; factors influencing trafficking in human beings and how victims are recruited. It also discusses the role and effects of international cooperation in prosecuting criminals responsible for trafficking and supporting victims.
