The publication deals with the non-judicial divorce important from the practical point of view. Under Polish law, the dissolution of a marriage can only take place at the court. Referring to the solutions functioning in selected foreign legal orders which allow the possibility of dissolving a marriage at the civil registrar’s or a notary public, the author postulates that this possibility should also be allowed under the Polish legal system. The new challenges proposed for the public administration bodies and notaries should contribute to the realization of citizens’ expectations, intending to conciliatory, quickly and “without unnecessary stress” that usually accompanies court cases, end marriage together.
