Abstract. Security of gas supply in selected UE countries and gas crisis of 2009
Europe’s energy security and Polish perspective. Energy security lies at the heart
of energy policy of European Union member states. Main reason for that is connected with countries dependence on Russian gas supplies. This topic became an issue
of not only practical but also of scientiÞ c concern. The example of 2009 gas crisis
showed how energy security differs among European Union member states. Gas supply disruption countries’ strengths and weaknesses, which inß uenced the range and
depth of disruption’s results. Paper compares 2009 situation of selected European
Union member states during the gas supply disruption.
