The concept of authority can be defined very broadly, depending on the discipline, but there is no doubt that this is a kind of pattern recognition and respect. The word authority comes from Latin - auctoritas and means seriousness, importance. According to the Dictionary of the Polish Language it is respect towards the person in a given group. Another interpretation of authority - in interpersonal relations: a person with leadership qualities, with high intelligence and charisma; people commonly respected because of achievements in a particular area, usually performing important functions. Authority in psychology is associated with a respected person. It is often observed that people with common indisputable authority in their environment are assisted by certain insignia - marketing tools (often subconsciously) that are associated with authority. People who act and look in a certain way, are treated as authorities and others are not.
